I took a co-worker to Carl’s Drive-In — it was her first time there.

Carl’s has flat little hamburgers, cooked to order in a Steak-N-Shake kind of style. Only these are much, much better. They also have some of the best onion rings around, and the best root beer in St. Louis. It’s IBC, but instead of the traditional bottles, they have a root beer barrel with a tapper, and frosty cold mugs. The mugs are so cold, in fact, that around the sides and bottom of the mug, the root beer freezes and creates little root beer icebergs in the drink.
