With oil prices setting a new record yesterday, I wasn’t entirely surprised to see prices go up, but twenty-two cents a gallon?! That officially makes a fill up cost me over $40. Ugh.

This also marks the first time prices have been above $2/gallon in St. Louis (except right after 9/11 — some folks were charging $4.95/gallon for a short period of time).

From what I hear, barrel prices have gone up 70% this year, and I doubt there’s much of an end in sight. Perhaps it’s a Republican ploy with their buddies, the Saudis, to encourage us to open up the oil fields in Alaska? 🙂 Or maybe Bush just needs some extra campaign money from the oil companies!
