The best of the best — my favorite shots!

Up the Tree

Molly and Emma went out for their evening constitutional tonight. They usually go off to their separate corners, smell the landscape, and look for interesting things in the yard. Emma almost always looks for squirrels, no matter what time of night it is, but Molly doesn’t pay much attention to things in the yard.

This night was different. Molly shot off to the corner of the yard, and started yelling at something just outside the fence. We went out to look, and found this little guy treed just outside our fence. Good Molly!!!

Lines at Sunset

Tonight’s sunset was a beauty. Normally, I don’t like photographing the sunset from the back deck — there’s just not a clear enough view down to the horizon. Tonight, though, part of the appeal was the clouds drifiting lazily from the west. Between the gentle diagonal slope of the trees, and the lines of the clouds, this sunset had elements that I loved!

Morning Has Broken

This morning, Gene, Denny and I went hiking at Rockwoods State Park. What a beautiful place!

Rockwoods is home to an old lime operation. The evidence of the train tracks is still in the landscape, with gradual manmade slopes, shored up with stone, and the ocassional piece of track still intact.

This view is of the public area near ranger house. For me, the gentle slope of the hill, and the feathery clouds really made the view. These clouds were with us all day, and really made for some beautiful scenes.

What’s Up

While driving home today, I decided to have a little fun. I put the 10-22mm on the 20D, laid it on the center console, and pointed it up. The day was beautiful, so my sunroof was open. A couple of shutter clicks later, I had some interesting photos.

I’m very impressed with the width of field that this lens gives me, and this particular exercise has given me some ideas about other opportunities to shoot like this!

Coyotes

I’ve been seeing this pair on my way to work for the last couple of weeks. They’re usually trotting across an unworked field on their way… somewhere.

I had no idea we had coyotes here — we’re not that far from civilization!
