While visiting the Devils Thumb trailhead in the Arapaho National Forest, I found this great little stream carrying the meltoff down the hill. The rocks at the bottom of the stream gave the water a great red color.
I was taking photos of pinecones on the forest floor, and by happy accident, had the camera set wrong, and captured this really painterly image. The camera shake added the appearance of brushstrokes in the image, which I really liked.
Visiting my in-laws in Fraser CO, I was fortunate enough to witness the Moon setting over Byers Peak. To me, it looked like a big snowball descending down to the mountain’s slope.
I spied my brother-in-law and his daughter admiring Byers Peak, and snapped this quick photo of them. I liked the tender moment, as well as the sunrays coming from the upper right.
This sign, found at a rest area just west of Goodland KS, had a decal added. Doing a little research, it’s promoting an album called “Genius” by Krizz Kaliko. I’ve never heard of him, but I thought this kind of promotion was pretty cool.
Atop a structure at a rest area west of Topeka KS, I found this word spray painted from a stencil in bright green. I have no idea who or what “Finnbeth” is, but I thought it was a neat piece of cryptic graffiti.
I was driving in the Jeep, and saw this terrific storm cloud building behind me. This cloud almost had a mushroom cloud look to it. With the Hipstamatic treatment, this image has an old “test blast” feel to it.
We had a limb fall into the yard a few weeks ago, and we’ve just left it to sit. As it’s sat, and the rains have come, it’s grown a nice complement of fungus. I saw it in the right light today, and knew I needed to capture it.
