PW Update

Just an update on the “America” photo contest Ree Drummond was running over at The Pioneer Woman. The short answer is that my image didn’t take first place, but one of the two I expected might win did.

Frankly, I was just thrilled to have one my images selected as a daily finalist, and way thrilled to have been selected as an overall finalist. Very, very cool. And I netted a gift certificate to B&H Photo… Like I need more excuses to shop with them!!!

Beyond the Lens III

Two years ago, I entered a juried competition called Beyond the Lens at Framations. That experience encouraged me to start displaying my work, and I’ve been showing pieces at Framations ever since. BTL III is here, and once again, one of my pieces has been juried into the competition.

I got a call from Framations, and “Dark Crystal” has been selected for the exhibit. It’s an image I shot during one of the big ice storms here in St. Louis, and has been a favorite ever since. Once again, ice is being very, very good to me. 🙂

The reception is this Saturday, January 10th, from 1pm to 4pm at Framations, with the awards presented from 2.30pm. The exhibit will be up through February 8th. C’mon out to St. Charles, and join the fun!

Send Me to the Tetons!

The Apple Hot News newsfeed made mention of a photo contest run by Aperture Nature Photography Workshops. The prize package is pretty amazing, including some software, some hardware, and a (mostly) expense-paid trip to the Tetons in late September for some one-on-one time with a pro photographer, and some up-close-and-personal training on Apple’s Aperture.
