A colleague brought this silly coconut head back from Mexico a few years ago, and it has hung around my cube ever since. As you can see, he frequently manages my headset in my absence!

Project 365 : Borrowed Sight
Fresh Art : Works from Yosemite

Taken during sessions at Yosemite National Park, these images have been lurking in my library for a while. It’s high time to get them out there for folks to see.
North Valley Glow, El Capitan #1, El Capitan #2 and El Capitan #3 are available through my online gallery in a variety of sizes.
Project 365 : This Coffee Looks Like It Tastes
Once again, it’s time to play with Hipstamatic and my iPhone. I saw the reflection in my coffee cup this morning, and felt compelled to capture it. The coffee here is just ok — it’s no Jamaican Blue Mountain or Kona — but it seemed like it would be enhanced with a little “dirty” photo treatment in Hipstamatic. Enjoy!
Project 365 : LED to the Light
I’m still playing with my deconstructed electronics. This image is of the infrared LED from a remote control. I used my light table to illuminate the scene, which sure makes it easy on me!
I made this image with my Canon 7D and Canon MP-E 65/2.8 macro lens. A little cleaning up in Lightroom, and I was done.
Project 365 : From a Forest
Playing a little catch up today… Yesterday, four of us went out to Shaw Nature Reserve to do some hiking and walking. The trails were great, with open prairie spaces, ponds, and great forests. At one point along the trail, I looked up and saw this great canopy of tall trees towering above me, and knew I had to capture them.
I took four images with my Canon 7D and Canon 10-22/3.5-4.5 lens, combined them in Photomatix and finished the image in Lightroom.
Photoshop CS5 Beta
A few weeks ago, I was selected to join the Photoshop CS5 Beta team. This was quite an honor, and I owe it all to my NAPP membership. Way cool opportunity!
While I can’t speak to features — NDA, ya know — the beta testers have been released to talk about the fact that Photoshop CS5 is out there, and show off some of the work we’ve done with it. Below is a before and after piece that I’ve been working on. All I can say is that Photoshop CS5 seems to really rock, and saved me a TON of time in working through the “after” image.
The kickoff event comes April 12th — can’t wait ’til then, and for the new product!
Shaw Nature Reserve
Our little group went hiking and photographing at Shaw Nature Reserve today. I shot the following video with the Canon 7D. I didn’t have the focus quite right until halfway through, but once the focus is right, it’s much, much better.
Casey dropped down in the ravine to get a look at some moving water. Unfortunately, the stuff at the bottom wasn’t very cool. It was fun to watch him come up out of there!
Photos from the shoot’ll come tomorrow!
