Becky loves Steiff bears, so I bought one for her a while back. It sits in a rocking chair in our spare bedroom — a room we lovingly call The Lincoln Bedroom. It’s decorated in full-blown Americana, and feels like you’ve stepped back in time a bit.

The best of the best — my favorite shots!
Project 365 : C Is for Crop Circle
Project 365 : As the Circuit Board Wobbles
Tonight, I had a little fun. After discovering that my Logitech NuLOOQ puck is no longer supported by Logitech (Boo!), I decided it might make a fun little thing to deconstruct. Within the puck, there’s a cool little circular circuit board that, when inverted, rides atop three springs.
This is where the fun comes in.
When the base is held, the circuit board can be twisted, released, and makes for a great bit of circular action that is pretty cool looking on a long-ish exposure.
Project 365 : Copper Leaf
Project 365 : Water Crown
We had horrible storms today, with enormous hail and a tornado within five miles of us. Not to let an opportunity pass me by, I decided to set my camera and flash up, and try to catch the raindrop splashdowns on the deck. I shot about 300 frames, and had a few nice images out of the bunch, this one being the best of the lot.
Project 365 : Kings
Project 365 : Japanese King
Once again, I’m playing with my father’s chess sets. This image is of a king from a Japanese set I believe my uncle gave my father when I was very young. This was one of those sets that we didn’t get to play on very often.
I lit this with a simple LED-based reading lamp, placed off to the side to create some nice shadows. I did all the finishing work in Lightroom.
Project 365 : Coal Cats
While Becky and I travelled in the UK almost twelve years ago, we drove from London to Cardiff for a little exploring. We visited all kinds of shops, and in one of them, found these cats. They’re carved from Welsh coal, and we fell in love with ’em. To us, they epitomized us, comfortable with each other, relaxing in each other’s arms.
Project 365 : Turning the Wrench
Two of the folks I work with also have Jeep Wranglers. Over the weekend, one of them invited us all over to help install a lift kit on his Jeep. I’m not much of a wrench monkey, so I handed folks tools, and took photos.
As work began on the rear of the Jeep, Rich had to get in the wheel well in order to loosen a bolt. I couldn’t resist grabbing a shot of him turning the wrench.
Project 365 : Nature’s Fireworks
The family piled up into the Big Green Jeep, and took off for Shaw Nature Reserve today. This is the fourth trip I’d made there in the last few weeks, and I’m thoroughly enjoying watching spring spring forth from the ground.
Among all the new growth, I found this dandelion, and couldn’t resist photographing it. To me, the structure and detail of this little weeds are beautiful. There is so much going on in those little balls of fluff, and so much to see… as long as they’re not in my yard. 🙂
